If you have an existing Act! in the Cloud database, it is possible to directly migrate your data into Act! Growth Suite Starter.
To begin, click your Profile link in the bottom left corner, select the option for Import, then click the Import from Act! button.
This will open the Act! Migration Wizard in a new tab. If you have previously used the wizard before, it will prompt you to begin a new session.
Choose Act! from the dropdown list. Once the wizard retrieves the mapping details, click Next.
Enter the following information:
- Username - The username used to log into your Act! in the Cloud database.
- Password - The password used to log into your Act! in the Cloud database.
- Act! Instance URL - The URL of your Act! in the Cloud database.
- Act! Database - The database name for your Act! in the Cloud database.
- API Token - Since you have provided all of the above information, this field can be left blank.
Once the fields have been completed, click Test Connection.
If the testing is successful, you will receive a message advising you of this. Click the Set Up Act! button.
You will then be prompted for your Act! Growth Suite Starter API information. Both of the fields should already be completed as the process begins within your account. If they have not been completed, tool-tips on both fields advise where to obtain this information. Click Continue to proceed, you will receive a message advising the connection has been successful, then click Review Mappings.
Should you wish to specify any custom mapping, you can do so here. This is strongly recommended if you have created custom fields in your Act! in the Cloud database. Once you have done so, click Import Test Data, then Begin Test Data Load to proceed.
This will import 10 test records into your Act! Growth Suite Starter database. You can refresh your database and check to make sure the 10 demo records have appeared within your Contacts section. You can also check that your field mappings have worked correctly as well. If this is not the case, you can click Review Mapping within the wizard to go back to the mapping screen. If the demo records are appearing correctly however, click Next within the wizard.
The wizard will delete the test data, then will show you the various areas of the program that you can choose to migrate. By default, every area will be ticked indicating you want to capture as much data as possible, but you can change this by unticking options if you prefer.
Once you have selected the areas of the program that you would like to migrate, click the Continue button. Finally, click the Begin Full Data Import button.
Once the data import begins, it can take minutes, or even hours if you have a particularly large database before the import process will complete. If you prefer, you can close this screen down, and the import will continue in the background.
Once this is finished, you will receive an email advising that the migration process has completed successfully.
