act! Essentials to Gmail connection woes

I am having the hardest time linking my email (Gmail) to my act! Essentials account. It was set for Outlook. I changed that default program on my computer. Then it opened up my email account under Microsoft Edge. Not what I wanted. I want it under Chrome since it is a Gmail account. So I changed the default email service provider on my computer. Now it won't bring any email up at all even though it is showing an Activity Card for that specific event. Soooo...what's next?

  Hi Michael,

  Can you please verify if you have set your browser preferences to default to your Gmail account? The Act! Essentials email will defualt to the web browsers default program.

  I set it up (on my computer) to go to Chrome. Which I assumed it would open it up under my email account as it did that when it opened up under Microsoft Edge. It was my Gmail account but didn't have the tools and familiarity of Gmail.
